Diamondsback Field Building Program

"Diamonds Back" Youth Field Building Program, presented by APS

Dimonds Back Field Program logoThe Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and APS unveiled Brad Ziegler Field in Prescott, Ariz., on May 16. The club's 34th 'Diamonds Back' field was dedicated to the 19 members of Prescott's Granite Mountain Hotshots firefighting crew who gave their lives in the line of duty last June.

D-backs reliever, Brad Zeigler, was a perfect match for the Field Building Program, he believes in giving back and is an ardent supporter of the military and all first responders. During the emotional dedication, Ziegler expressed how proud he was to have his name on a field associated with the firefighters and their legacies. The newly improved field will help get young kids excited about baseball while honoring the memory of those brave firefighters.

Since 2000, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has built or refurbished baseball fields representing a community investment of more than $10 million. With support from APS, and charitable contributions from D-backs players, the program has allowed children from across the state to play baseball and softball at quality facilities. The fields generally feature new lights, a branded electronic scoreboard, new fencing and backstops, new irrigation and new grass and dirt with additional support provided by local contractors and businesses.

The evaluation and determination of the location of each field is determined by a grant process. A new "Diamonds Back Field" is awarded annually.
