Kids Rule at Safeco Field With 2011 Special Events Just for Them02/03/2011 12:45 PM ET
When the Seattle Mariners take the field at Safeco Field this season, there will be a full slate of events and activities just for Mariners fans 14-years of age and younger.
Salute to Kids
The fun gets underway on Sunday, April 10, the third home game of the season, with Salute to Kids Day. All kids 14 and under will receive a free Ichiro T-shirt, courtesy of The Boeing Company. A group of kids, ages 6-14, will be chosen at random to run the show with a variety of dream jobs including honorary team manager, scoreboard operator, public address announcer, camera operator and grounds crew member. Nine lucky kids will be introduced to the crowd and take the field with their favorite Mariners players before the game. Salute to Kids Day will be repeated on Sunday, August 28, when all kids 14 and younger will receive a Felix Hernandez T-shirt, courtesy of Boeing.
Little League & Youth Baseball
There are four Little League and Youth Baseball Days on the schedule this year where kids will get a series of Mariners posters, courtesy of Pepsi. On Saturday, May 7, all kids get a Justin Smoak poster, on May 8, they'll receive a Jason Vargas poster, Sunday, June 5, is a Chone Figgins poster, and on Sunday, June 19, all kids 14 and younger will receive a poster featuring Franklin Gutierrez.
Run Around the Bases
Beginning on Sunday, July 3, all kids are invited to come down on the field after every Sunday home game and run around the bases, courtesy of KeyBank. Each child will receive a certificate, signed by the Mariner Moose, when they come off the field certifying that they ran the bases at Safeco Field.
Kids Cap Night
On Monday, June 27, all kids 14 and younger will receive a Mariners cap, courtesy of Boeing. The kid-sized cap is navy with a plaid front panel and Mariners "S" logo with baseball compass rose.
Kids Appreciation Day
Sunday, September 18 is the annual Kids Appreciation Day presented by Ivar's & Kidd Valley. All kids will be entered into drawings for great prizes to be awarded at random throughout the game including such things as a party at Safeco Field with the Mariner Moose, a Seattle Mariners Team Store shopping spree, autographed baseballs, and more. There will be a special Fan Zone near Section 184 with face painters, balloon artists, a Mariners prize wheel, a Moose coloring contest, and free photo IDs for kids.
Tickets on Sale March 12
Single game tickets for the 2011 Seattle Mariners season go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12. They will be available without a service charge at the Safeco Field Box Office and at Mariners Team Stores. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.mariners.com.
