Dave Niehaus Memorial Patches to be Sold at Seattle Mariners Team Stores
03/28/2011 1:54 PM ET

The special patches that will be worn by the Seattle Mariners in 2011 in memory of Hall of Fame broadcaster Dave Niehaus will be available for sale to the general public, with proceeds benefitting the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).

The patch, which will be worn on the right sleeve of Mariners uniforms this season, is oval-shaped, with DAVE, My Oh My! and an old fashioned radio microphone stitched in white thread over a black background.

The patch will be available exclusively at all Seattle Mariners Team Stores beginning on Friday, April 8. The price will be $10 each, with proceeds going to FAAN. Mariners Team Stores are located at Safeco Field, 4th & Stewart in downtown Seattle, Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall and Alderwood Mall.

Founded in 1991, FAAN is the world's largest nonprofit organization providing information about food allergy to the media, schools, health professionals, pharmaceutical companies, the food industry and government officials, as well as the food allergy community.

FAAN estimates as many as 12 million Americans have food allergies, and for reasons that are not fully understood, the prevalence of food allergies appears to be on the rise. There is no cure for food allergies. Strict avoidance and management of allergic reactions are important measures to prevent serious health consequences. For more information about FAAN or food allergies, log onto www.foodallergy.org.

There will be a special tribute to Dave Niehaus during the pregame ceremonies on Opening Night, April 8, at Safeco Field. The pregame program will start at approximately 6:30pm. Tickets for Opening Night are still available at mariners.com, the Safeco Field box office, or at Mariners Team Stores.
