Larry Gura

Steady and unflappable, Gura was the textbook example of a crafty southpaw. With guile and guts he logged a 111-78 record in his 10 seasons with the Royals, leaving him with the second-best winning percentage (.587) in club history. He was named Royals Pitcher of the Year two times and was selected to the 1980 All-Star team. Gura posted 18 wins in a season twice and finished his career ranked among the Royals Top 10 in almost every pitching category including games started (219), innings pitched (1,701.1) and strikeouts (633).
