This Day in Baseball History:
January 23, 1979 > The legendary Willie Mays is elected to the Hall of Fame. Among the all-time leaders in hits, home runs and RBIs, the "Say Hey Kid" garners 409 out of 432 possible votes to become the 14th man to be elected in his first year on the ballot. Mays will officially enter the Hall on August 5th, along with Veterans Committee selections Warren Giles and Hack Wilson.
