The Australian native's start will be the second consecutive one by a Mariners rookie. On Wednesday, Clint Nageotte made his fourth career start, losing, 9-6, to the Rangers.

After Thursday's day game, the Mariners will be on the road until the All-Star break. They will start in St. Louis to conclude their Interleague schedule, then travel to Toronto before finishing the first half of the season in Chicago, where they will reunite with Freddy Garcia.
