Ichiro reaches 1,600 Major League hits
Center fielder connects with single in the seventh inning
BALTIMORE -- Mariners center fielder Ichiro Suzuki reached the 1,600-hit mark in his seven-plus Major League seasons with a leadoff single in the seventh inning on Monday afternoon against the Orioles.
Ichiro, the first player in MLB history to begin his career with seven consecutive 200-hit seasons, opened the series finale at Oriole Park at Camden Yards with his first home run of the season and 26th in the first inning.
