Mariners on the mound: Left-handed starter Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up two runs and five hits in four innings. He struck out three. Sean White yielded one hit in a scoreless two innings.

Rockies on the mound: Jason Marquis threw 88 pitches in 3 2/3 innings and gave up nine hits, including a homer, and five runs, with two walks and three strikeouts. Glendon Rusch gave up one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings, and Alan Embree allowed a hit in a scoreless inning. Jason Grilli gave up two runs in one inning in his first outing since pitching for Italy in the World Baseball Classic.

Mariners at the plate: Matt Tuiasosopo singled twice, doubled and knocked a two-run homer. Ronny Cedeno also had a two-run shot. Rowland-Smith, swinging in a game for the first time since he was 17, had two singles.

Rockies at the plate: Dexter Fowler went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run and a stolen base. Clint Barmes, Sal Fasano, Scott Podsednik and Matt Miller each drove in runs. Brad Hawpe went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in his return, after missing two weeks with a lacerated pinkie finger.

Team records: Mariners 7-7, Rockies 6-9

Up next: The Mariners return to Peoria Stadium on Sunday for a 1:05 p.m. PT game against the White Sox with Garrett Olson getting the start. The left-hander is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in three outings, walking two and striking out two. A starter most of his career, Olson could become the team's lefty long reliever this season. The Mariners are 3-3-1 at their home field this spring, including a 3-2 "home" record. The game will be broadcast on KIRO 710/97.3 FM.
