SEATTLE -- He was featured on a candy bar wrapper earlier in his career. This weekend, though, Ken Griffey Jr. will add a more sophisticated label to his collection. Griffey will host "Junior 600 night" at 6 p.m. PT on Sunday at the Safeco Field first base Terrace Club, where the limited-edition "Junior 600" wine -- a labeling of Chateau Ste. Michelle's Ethos 2005 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon commemorating Griffey's 600th career home run -- will be unveiled and available for purchase. Only 600 individually numbered, autographed and authenticated bottles of Junior 600 have been produced. Tickets to the event are $350, and admission includes one autographed bottle of Junior 600. All proceeds will benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital and the Ken Griffey Jr. Family Foundation. Bottles of Junior 600 can be purchased for $250 each for those not attending the event. "The wine is really good, and each of my teammates are going to buy a bottle," said a smiling and joking Griffey. The night will also include food, drinks and a live, silent auction, including autographed sports memorabilia from Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, among others. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Griffey. "It is going to be a great night," Griffey said. "I think people know how I feel about kids, and with the recent medical conditions of my mother and father, events like this make it even more special to help people out. It is important for me to step up and help other organizations to help find a cure for certain diseases and illnesses. I ask that others step up with me to raise awareness through a great event." To reserve a spot or order a bottle or case of Junior 600, call the Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation office at 206-987-2837 or e-mail them at askus@seattlechildrens.org.Christian Caple is an associate reporter for MLB.com.
