Mariners at the plate: Catcher Adam Moore led the way with three hits, including an RBI single in the sixth inning that put the visitors on the scoreboard. The Mariners were 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

Brewers at the plate: Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder combined for three hits, three RBIs and two runs as the Brewers jumped to a 3-0 lead after one inning and went on to win their second straight home game. Corey Hart homered for the second straight game.

Mariners on the mound: Doug Fister was touched for three runs in the first inning but only two of them were earned because of one of two Mariners errors. Right-hander Brandon League made his second appearance for the Mariners after an offseason trade from Toronto and recorded two outs via strikeout in a scoreless inning.

Brewers on the mound: The starting-rotation competition was center stage, as both Manny Parra and Dave Bush took the mound. Parra went first and delivered three scoreless innings despite allowing four hits and a walk. Bush went 2 2/3 innings and also surrendered four hits. He was charged one run.

Worth noting: Mariners infielder Dustin Ackley, a three-time All-American at the University of North Carolina has been selected by Baseball America as the Player of the Decade. More than 150 college baseball coaches were polled for the award. Ackley, the Mariners' first-round choice in the 2009 Draft, holds the College World Series record for most hits (28) and is the only player selected to the All-CWS team three times. Ackley, an outfielder and first baseman for the Tar Heels, has been converted to second base by the Mariners. ... Brewers third baseman Mat Gamel was hit in the leg by an Eric Byrnes double in the first inning, but the Brewers said it was a sore right shoulder the forced Gamel from the game in the third. Gamel first complained of a sore shoulder last week and was held out of the team's first three game days.

Up next: After spending one day away from the Peoria Sports Complex, playing two road games on Monday, the Mariners return for a 12:05 PT game against the Indians on Tuesday. It will be the last day in the Major League clubhouse for several of the players as the first roster cuts of Spring Training are expected to be made on Wednesday. Left-hander Jason Vargas makes his second start of the spring and is pursuing the fifth spot in the rotation. Right-handers Yusmeiro Petit, Steven Shell, Chad Cordero, Mike Koplove and Levale Speigner also are scheduled to pitch.

The Brewers will get their first look at their cross-border rivals when they travel to Mesa, Ariz., on Tuesday to play the Cubs at 12:05 PT. Jeff Suppan, who worked two scoreless innings in his Cactus League debut last week, will start again, this time against Cubs righty Randy Wells. Brewers manager Ken Macha has cautioned repeatedly against reading too much into the Spring Training rotation, but for the moment, it appears that Suppan is lined up as the team's No. 4 starter. If that's the case, he would debut in the regular season against the Cardinals on April 9. First, he has to win that job.
