BOSTON, MA - Kris Allen, the American Idol Season 8 winner who recently released his second album entitled THANK YOU CAMELLIA, is set to perform at the 2012 Picnic in the Park presented by Ace Ticket, the annual charitable fundraiser hosted by the Red Sox players and their wives benefitting two of the Red Sox Foundation's charitable programs, the Red Sox Scholars and Red Sox RBI and Rookie League inner city youth baseball programs. Kris comes to the event courtesy of radio station MIX 104-1. Tickets are now on sale for the event on redsox.com/picnic.
"It's a thrill be invited to sing at 100 year old iconic Fenway Park," the American Idol winner Kris Allen said. "And being able to share a picnic on the field with the players and fans while supporting programs serving at risk kids makes it a grand slam for me!"
This fan-friendly event, which will be held one hour after the conclusion of the Sunday, August 5, Red Sox-Twins game, allows fans to enjoy a BBQ picnic on the field at Fenway Park, a chance to get autographs from current Red Sox players, as well as the opportunity to bid on unique items and experiences donated by the Red Sox players and their wives during a live auction.
"Picnic in the Park is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to get together and enjoy a unique experience at Fenway Park, all while contributing to the important youth programs supported by the Red Sox Foundation for at-risk kids in our community," said Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner. "We look forward to hosting fans of all ages for this special event, now in its 7th year."
The Master of Ceremonies for the Picnic in the Park is award winning actor and comedian, Mike O'Malley. Ace Ticket is the presenting sponsor of this year's event with additional sponsor Bank of America.
"My wife and I a big fans of the Red Sox Foundation and the way the team charity open doors for disadvantaged kids through their Red Sox Scholars and inner city youth baseball programs," said Jim Holzman, President/CEO of Ace Ticket. "For Red Sox fans, Picnic in the Park is the best of sports and philanthropy, so Ace Ticket is proud to sponsor the event, this year with American Idol Kris Allen joining beloved actor Mike O'Malley and all the Red Sox players."
General Admission Picnic tickets are $350.00 per person and include a new blanket in a gift bag, dinner on Fenway Park's outfield, access to the player autograph session, and entertainment. MVP tickets are available at $500.00 per person, and also include additional benefits including a bleacher ticket to the Sunday, August 5, Red Sox game prior to the Picnic, the chance to take your picture with the 2004 and 2007 World Series Trophies, a baseball autographed by a Red Sox Legend, as well as free entry into a MVP-only raffle to win Green Monster tickets, 2013 Opening Day tickets and other special prizes.
To protect the field, only a limited number of Picnic tickets are available. Advance purchase is required, and because this is a charitable fundraiser, much of the ticket price is tax deductible. Since this is the only opportunity the whole team will be providing autographs, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early as the Picnic usually sells out in advance.
General admission tickets to the Picnic in the Park are separate from game tickets and can be purchased by visiting www.redsox/picnic or by calling 617-226-6002.
