Promotions & Special Events

"Miles For Smiles" Treadmill Run: Angie Balfour and other players' wives and girlfriends are teaming up with Smile Train, an international nonprofit organization that provides free cleft surgeries to poor children in developing countries. The wives and girlfriends will attempt to fund one surgery per mile that they run on a treadmill set up adjacent to the left field BBQ terrace. In addition, A's closer Grant Balfour will sign 2013 All-Star Game photos behind Section 120 from 6-6:30 p.m. for the first 100 fans who donate $40 to Smile Train.

Heart and Hustle Award Presentation: Prior to the game on Friday, July 26, World Series champion and A's broadcaster Ray Fosse will present third baseman Josh Donaldson with the ninth annual Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's Heart and Hustle Award. The award is given to one player from each MLB team who demonstrates a passion for the game and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game of baseball.

1960s Turn-Back-the-Clock Day and Oaklandish Throwback Tee Giveaway: On Saturday, July 27, 10,000 fans will receive an Oaklandish Throwback Tee presented by Tribune Tavern on 1960s Turn-Back-the-Clock Day. The A's and Angels will wear throwback uniforms, and the game will feature music and fashion from the 1960s. Country Joe McDonald will sing the national anthem prior to the game, and veterans will be honored throughout the game. NOTE: Saturday's game time is 12:05 p.m., with ballpark gates opening at 10:05 a.m.

Baron's A Legacy of Elegance Player Appearance: After the game on Saturday, July 27, A's second baseball Eric Sogard will be at Baron's Legacy Showroom, located at 4870 Dublin Blvd. in Dublin. Sogard will be signing autographs, and fans that show up will have a chance to win prizes, including a $500 watch.

Holiday Inn Postgame Remote: The A's postgame radio show, hosted by Roxy Bernstein, will be held at the Holiday Inn Oakland Airport on Sunday, July 28. A's pitcher A.J. Griffin will be interviewed live. Fans can win A's prizes and enjoy food and beverage specials. The Holiday Inn Oakland Airport is located at 77 Hegenberger Road in Oakland.

Jewish Heritage Night: On Tuesday, July 30, the A's are hosting their third annual Jewish Heritage Night. Fans that purchased a special ticket to the game will receive an exclusive A's Jewish Heritage Yarmulke and a traditional food item served in the Bar & Grille.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION First Pitch: To celebrate the July 30 Blu-ray and DVD debut of the worldwide hit G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, SNAKE EYES, one of the original and most popular members of the G.I. JOE team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch when they A's host the Blue Jays on Tuesday, July 30. SNAKE EYES is portrayed by actor and martial arts expert Ray Park.

"Endless Winter" Fireworks Show presented by Burton Snowboards: After the A's-Rangers game on Friday, Aug. 2, fans will be treated to an "Endless Winter" Fireworks show presented by Burton Snowboards. On-field capacity is limited for the fireworks show. In addition, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Burton Snowboards will be on-site during the game to teach kids how to snowboard in their riglet area near Section 235. Beginning this fall, snowboarders in the Bay Area can shop at two new Burton Snowboards flagship stores, which are opening in Berkeley and the Haight-Ashbury District.

Italian Heritage Night, presented by Peroni: On Friday, Aug. 2, the A's are hosting their third annual Italian Heritage Night, presented by Peroni. Fans who purchased a special ticket to the game will receive an exclusive A's Italian Heritage Fedora and a traditional food item served in the Bar & Grille.

Kids Appreciation Weekend: On Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4, the A's will host pre-game autograph sessions for A's Kids Club members (must be pre-registered). There will also be an array of special promotions and giveaways geared towards kids throughout the weekend.

SoBe ® 3D Worlds of Flavor Tour: The "SoBe® 3D Worlds of Flavor" tour arrives in Oakland to transform its urban jungle into a faraway destination. From July 25-28 at the O.co Coliseum BART Plaza, internationally recognized 3D chalk artist Tracy Lee Stum will create an unexpected, faraway world using the bold flavors of SoBe ® Lifewater Blood Orange Mango as inspiration.

Community Relations

Take the Field with the A's: The Take the Field with the A's program gives youth baseball and softball teams the chance to live out their Major League dreams. On Sunday, July 28 and Sunday, Aug. 4, youth players from the North Oakland AAA River Cats and the A's Kids Club, respectively, will join Oakland A's players on the field during the National Anthem. Each participant receives an autographed baseball and t-shirt, courtesy of the A's Community Fund.

Umps Care: Prior to the games on July 27 and Aug. 3, Major League umpires will host Bigs and Littles from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, as part of the Umps Care initiative. The selected BBBS members will receive tickets to the game, a gift bag, a tour of the umpires' clubhouse and $10 worth of ballpark cash.

Sons of Baseball Foundation: On Sunday, July 28, the A's will host eight-year-old Mykayla Herrera in partnership with the Sons of Baseball Foundation, a nonprofit organization which provides positive and lasting baseball experiences for children with disabilities or who are battling life-threatening illnesses. Mykayla will throw out the first pitch, and she and her family will get tickets to the game and a VIP experience.

Little A's: On Sunday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 31, as part of the Little A's program, deserving youth and their chaperones of non-profit organizations will have the opportunity to attend an A's game free of charge. In addition to a game ticket, each child receives a Bank of America souvenir and child-admission pass to the Oakland Zoo. The Little A's program is presented by Bank of America and supported by the Oakland Zoo and Clorox.

A's Relief: As part of the A's Relief program, the A's bullpen is honoring unsung Bay Area heroes who choose to do the right thing in the community. Once per month, the A's Community Fund and A's relievers will make a donation to the charity of the recipient's choice. Fans can nominate A's Reliever of the Month candidates at oaklandathletics.com/relief.

A's Amigos: On Tuesday, July 30, an A's player will visit with Spanish-speaking children from Mexican-American Community Services Agency, Inc., as part of the A's Amigos program. In addition to the pre-game chat, each child will receive a game ticket and an A's hat. A's Amigos is supported by Kelly Moore Paints and XFINITY.

A's Community Fund Silent Auctions: Every Saturday and Sunday home game, the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. The silent auctions are located in the A's fan center behind section 120 and end with the last out in the bottom of the 5th inning.

A's Community Fund Bowling Bash: Bob Melvin and the A's are hosting the inaugural A's Community Fund Bowling Bash, sponsored in part by Budweiser, after the game on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl. Proceeds from the event will benefit the A's Community Fund. NOTE: This is a private event, but sponsorship opportunities are available.

State Farm Pitch In Award: State Farm's 18,000 agents across the nation take pride in their "pitch in" spirit, doing all they can to get you to a better state. Prior to six A's games, including July 28 and Aug. 2, a local State Farm agent will join an A's player or coach in recognizing local individuals and organizations with the State Farm Pitch In Award as a thank you for their efforts to make the community better.
