Quad strain sends Encarnacion to disabled list
Blue Jays slugger to miss All-Star Game; Toronto activates Reimold
The Blue Jays placed All-Star first baseman Edwin Encarnacion on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a right quad strain.
The team also activated outfielder Nolan Reimold from the DL.
Encarnacion is currently third in the American League in home runs (26) and second in RBIs (70). He left Saturday's game after feeling a pop in his right leg in the first inning.
Reimold has been on a rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie, batting .315 with two homers and nine RBIs over 17 games. He has spent parts of the last five seasons with the Orioles, hitting .252 with 41 homers and 126 RBIs.
Also on Monday, Toronto lost outfielder Kenny Wilson to the A's on a waiver claim.
Wilson has never appeared in the Major Leagues, splitting time between Minnesota's Double-A team in New Britain and the Blue Jays' Double-A and Triple-A clubs this year.
