Mariners saddened at Marzano's death

Former Seattle catcher, 45, passes away at home in Philly


The first time Mariners bullpen coach Norm Charlton met John Marzano was in the summer of 1984, when they were teammates on the U.S. Olympic Team. "He was the life of the party back then, and he never changed," Charlton said. Marzano, 45, a first-round Draft pick in 1984, died this weekend at his home in Philadelphia, where he suffered a fall down a flight of stairs, reportedly after a possible heart attack.
