    The San Diego Padres today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodney to a one-year Major League contract for the 2016 season with a club option for the 2017 season. In addition the club has also acquired right-handed pitcher Jean Cosme from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for right-handed pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne.   • Padres community caravan to cover San Diego and Tijuana Feb 11-13

    The San Diego Padres today announced the 2016 Padres Community Caravan will cover San Diego County and Tijuana February 11-13. Padres players, coaches, alumni, executives and broadcasters, along with Pad Squad and the Swinging Friar, will travel around the region volunteering, meeting fans and visiting with our military and first responders prior to heading to Arizona for Spring Training presented by Southwest Airlines. Padres players and coaches expected to participate in various stops on the Caravan include Manager Andy Green, as well as James Shields, Tyson Ross, Andrew Cashner, Cory Spangenberg, and more.

    The San Diego Padres today announced the club's 2016 Baseball Night in San Diego lineup, including all-fan giveaways and events every home weekend during the upcoming Major League Baseball All-Star season. Single-game tickets for Baseball Night in San Diego games go on sale to the general public Thursday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. at www.padres.com/BNISD. Single-game tickets for all remaining home games will go on sale to the general public Thursday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m. at www.padres.com.

    The San Diego Padres today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Carlos Villanueva to a one-year Major League contract for the 2016 season. In addition the club has also selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Ryan Buchter to the 40-man roster and have granted right-handed pitcher Marcos Mateo his release from the 40-man roster for the purpose of playing in the Japanese Central League in 2016.
