Mariners acquire Olivo, Reed and Morse for Garcia and Davis
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Bill Bavasi today announced that the Mariners have acquired catcher Miguel Olivo, outfielder Jeremy Reed and shortstop Mike Morse from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Freddy Garcia and catcher Ben Davis.

"This deal gives us top value for a stellar performer at a position we feel we have some depth at," Bavasi said. "Olivo is a Major League catcher, and while we are very happy with our current situation at catcher we needed to plan for the future at that position. We also acquire a top-level outfield prospect and a very good double-A shortstop, two positions we don't have as much depth at."

Olivo was hitting .270 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 45 games entering play today.
