Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Bill Bavasi today announced that the Mariners have traded infielder Rich Aurilia to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Aurilia was designated for assignment on July 10 when the Mariners activated outfielder Raul Ibañez.
Aurilia appeared in 73 games with the Mariners this season, hitting .241 (63x261) with 13 doubles, 4 home runs and 28 RBI, including hitting in 24 of his last 33 games (31x117/.265). He signed a one-year contract with the Mariners on Jan. 8, 2004.
