Seattle Mariners Director of Amateur Scouting Tom McNamara announced today that the club has signed second-round pick Rich Poythress out of the University of Georgia.

The Mariners have now signed 32 of their 50 draft selections, including 12 of their first 15 selections (see attached release).

Poythress (POY-tress) was selected 51st overall by the Mariners in the June amateur draft. In three seasons at the University of Georgia he combined to bat .353 (232x658) with 43 home runs and 185 RBI. He finished his career 2nd in school history with 185 RBI and 5th with 43 home runs.
