Mariners announce Minor League coaching staff for 2010 season
West Tennessee Manager Tim Laker and coach Andy Fox added to staff
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik today the Mariners Minor League Coaching Staff for the 2010 season.

Most of the coaching staff remains unchanged from last season, including returning managers: Daren Brown (Tacoma), James Horner (High Desert), John Tamargo (Clinton) and Jose Moreno (Everett). Eriberto Menchaca, who coached Clinton last season, will manage Pulaski in 2010 and Jesus Azuaje will take over as manager for Peoria. Also new to the Minor League staff in 2010 are West Tennessee Manager Tim Laker and coach Andy Fox.

Laker, 40, spent the last two seasons as the Catching Coordinator in the Cleveland Indians Player Development system. As the Catching Coordinator was responsible for implementing the basic organizational catching philosophy among minor league coaching staff and players. Prior to being named Catching Coordinator in 2008, he was the manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers during the 2007 season. Laker played professionally for 19 seasons, including parts of 11 seasons at the Major League level with the Montreal Expos (1992-93, 1995) Baltimore Orioles (1997), Tampa Bays Rays (1998, 2005), Pittsburgh Pirates (1998-99) and Cleveland Indians (2001, 2003-04, 2006). He was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 6th round of the 1988 draft and would make his Major League debut in 1992. Laker owns a career .226 average with 11 home runs and 79 RBI in 282 games in the Majors.

Fox, 38, spent the last three seasons as the Florida Marlins first base and infield coach. Prior to joining the Marlins, he spent the 2006 in the Texas Rangers organization as manager of the Clinton Lumberjacks. Fox spent nine seasons as an infielder in the Majors, compiling a .239 batting average with 30 home runs and 168 RBI in 776 games with the New York Yankees (1996-97), Arizona Diamondbacks (1998-2000), Florida Marlins (2000-2003), Montreal Expos (2004) and Texas Rangers (2004). He won a World Series as a member of the Marlins' 2003 World Series championship team and as a member of the Yankees' 1996 World Series championship team. A second-round draft pick in 1989 by the Yankees, Fox retired in 2005 after playing briefly in the Twins organization.
