A three-game series against the Athletics on April 12-14 kicks off the 2010 home season, and the A's are in town for the third and final time for a four-game series to close out the 81-game schedule at Safeco Field, according to a tentative schedule released on Tuesday by Major League Baseball.
With three games against the A's during the final week of the regular season remaining, the Mariners have an 11-5 record against the team manager Don Wakamatsu served as bench coach for a year ago.
The Mariners' Interleague Play schedule features home games against the Reds and the Lou Piniella-managed Cubs. The Reds are in Seattle on June 18-20 followed by the Cubs for the following three games.
Piniella, who managed the Mariners from 1993-2002, has one year remaining on his contract with the National League team and has intimated that the 2010 season might be his last.
The Red Sox will visit Seattle twice, playing a four-game series on July 22-25 and returning to Safeco on Sept. 13-15 for a three-game series.
After coming to Seattle twice this season, including a three-game series this weekend, the Yankees visit once in 2010 on July 8-11.
Besides the Athletics, the first homestand of the season includes a three-game series against the Tigers on April 16-18 and the Orioles on April 19-21 -- the longest homestand of the season.
As always, the Mariners will host the Padres, their Spring Training partner, in Interleague Play. San Diego comes to Seattle for a three-game series on May 21-23.
