Mariners left-handed pitcher George Sherrill scheduled for surgery
Veteran left-hander George Sherrill will undergo “Tommy John” surgery.
Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that Mariners left-handed pitcher George Sherrill will undergo ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) replacement surgery.
Sherrill, 35, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 13, retroactive to April 10, with a strained flexor bundle in his left elbow. Mariners medical director Dr. Edward Khalfayan & Dr. Lewis Yocum, have recommended that Sherrill undergo ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) replacement surgery (“Tommy John”) on his left elbow.
Dr. Lewis Yocum will perform the surgery in Los Angeles, CA on May 4.
Sherrill appeared in two games with Seattle this season, and is 0-0, 27.00 ERA after allowing 4 earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched. He’s allowed 6 hits (including 2 home runs) and 1 walk.
