Mariners select the contract of RHP Kameron Loe

RHP Josh Kinney placed on 60-day Disabled List.

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that the club had selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Kameron Loe from AAA Tacoma and added him to the Major League, 40-man, roster.

Right-handed pitcher Josh Kinney has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a stress reaction in the third rib on his left side.

Loe, 31, signed a minor league contract with Seattle on February 12. In eight appearances this spring, he is 1-0 with 1 save and an 1.80 ERA (10.0 IP, 2 ER) with 2 walks and 15 strikeouts.

He went 6-5 with 2 saves and a 4.61 ERA (35 ER, 68.1 IP) in 70 relief appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2012. In 2011 he posted a 3.50 ERA in 72 relief appearances, and pitched in 5 games during the Brewers postseason run to the National League Championship Series.

The 6-8, 245-pound native of Simi Valley, Calif., has pitched for the Texas Rangers (2004-2008) and Milwaukee (2010-2012) during his eight-season Major League career. He also played one season in Japan with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks. Loe has combined to go 32-40, 4.36 ERA in 302 appearances (47 starts). Over the two seasons with the Brewers he has made 142 relief appearances (72 in '11, 70 in '12), tied for 11th-most amongst National League relievers.

Kinney, 34, has not appeared in a spring game since March 6 when he was forced to leave a game after two-thirds of an inning with pain on his left side. He was diagnosed with a stress reaction and has been receiving treatment but has not been able to throw.
