Mariners place outfielder Franklin Gutierrez on 15-day disabled list

Outfielder Carlos Peguero recalled from AAA Tacoma

HOUSTON, Texas - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today the following roster moves:

  • OF Franklin Gutierrez placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.
  • OF Carlos Peguero recalled from AAA Tacoma.

Peguero will wear jersey #4 when he joins the Mariners for tonight's game vs. the Astros (5:10 pm PT/7:10 pm CT).


Gutierrez, 30, was removed from last night's game vs. the Astros in the 4th inning after diving for a ball in center field. Gutierrez is batting .259 (14x54) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 10 RBI in 16 games (13 GS in CF) this season. This will be the fifth trip to the disabled list for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season.


Peguero, 26, was batting .246 (15x61) with 11 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 17 games for the Tacoma Rainiers. He has drawn 11 walks in 17 games for a .351 on-base percentage. In 63 games with the Mariners in 2011-2012, Peguero combined to bat .191 (38x199) with 8 home runs and 26 RBI.
