Catricala was designated for assignment on June 2

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that the Mariners have traded minor league infielder Vinnie Catricala to the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Catricala, 24, hit .253 (44x184) with 8 doubles, 3 home runs and 21 RBI in 48 games for AA Jackson. He was originally selected by the Mariners in the 10th round of the 2009 June Draft out of the University of Hawai'i.

Catricala was designated for assignment on June 2 when Seattle selected the contract RHP Jeremy Bonderman from AAA Tacoma.
