RHP Hisashi Iwakuma activated from 15-day disabled list; LHP Lucas Luetge optioned to AAA Tacoma

Iwakuma scheduled to start today's game at Houston Astros

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves today:

  •          Lucas Luetge, LHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game May 2)
  •          Hisashi Iwakuma, RHP, activated from 15-day Disabled List

Iwakuma is the scheduled starter for today's game at the Houston Astros (3:10 CT/1:10 PT).

Iwakuma, 33, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on March 29, retroactive to March 21, with a torn extensor tendon in his right middle finger. He did not appear in a game this spring. Iwakuma made one rehabilitation start with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing 2 earned runs April 27 at Las Vegas.

Luetge, 27, was in his second stint with the Mariners this season. He was recalled to Seattle April 25 from Tacoma and pitched in one game (April 27, 1.1 IP, 1 BB, 1 SO). He was also on the MLB roster April 9-14, appearing in two games. In three games with Seattle this season, he has not recorded a decision while posting a 7.71 ERA (2.1 IP, 1 H, 2 ER).
