Breast Cancer Awareness Day

The annual A's Breast Cancer Awareness Day has benefitted the American Cancer Society, Cancer Prevention Institute of California, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Over the past 15 years, this event has raised more than $1.25 million for breast cancer education and research.

Funds were raised through the sale of special ticket packages, commemorative pins, hats, pink jerseys, heart ribbon pendants, an A's autographed quilt raffle, and fan and sponsor support.

Pregame ceremonies featured over 500 Bay Area breast cancer survivors forming a symbolic human ribbon on the field in dedication of hope and survival, and the release of white doves as a symbol of hope.

In addition, as a part of "A Gift of Faith" grant, the A's donate $5,000 annually to a local charity in memory of longtime KTVU Channel 2 reporter, the late Faith Fancher.

The 2014 Breast Cancer Awareness Day will be on Mother's Day - Sunday, May 11.

Holiday Party

Oakland A's pitchers Sean Doolittle and A.J. Griffin made the 2013 holiday season special for a group of deserving children at the A's Community Fund's annual holiday party at the Oakland Zoo, presented by Round Table Pizza and Aquafina. Doolittle and Griffin signed autographs and took photos with 200 students from Howard Elementary School in Oakland, a reward for the students' excellent attendance and classroom behavior. Each child received a wrapped gift, courtesy of the Good Tidings Foundation, and the day also included face painting, arts and crafts, and a visit by Santa and A's mascot Stomper. Read More »

Silent Auction

Every Saturday and Sunday home game (and select weekday games), the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring both signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. The silent auction is located in the A's Fan Center behind Section 120 and ends with the last out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

During the 2013 season, various charity groups received a portion of the more than $50,000 raised as silent auction partners.

Proceeds from the auction benefit the A's Community Fund and various other local charities. Purchased items are tax deductible.
