Mariners Care Programs

The entire Seattle Mariners organization takes the role of community leadership very seriously. The ballclub is in a unique position to connect the team with worthwhile endeavors, community partners and fundraising activities that make significant contributions to the Pacific Northwest. It is the goal and responsibility of the organization to be a community leader. During the 2012 Mariners season, Mariners Care, the team's non-profit foundation, helped raise over one million dollars for various charities and community projects.



Mariner Moose D.R.E.A.M. Team School Assembly Program
The Mariner Moose D.R.E.A.M.Team School Assembly Program continues to visit elementary schools in the Pacific Northwest throughout the 2013 school year. The program uses the Mariner Moose to deliver the importance of the D.R.E.A.M. Team principles: staying Drug-free, Respect for yourself and others, Education through reading, Attitude, and Motivation. To find out how you can bring the Moose and his D.R.E.A.M. Team to your school, please send a letter of request on your school letterhead to D.R.E.A.M. Team Assembly Program, P.O. Box 4100, Seattle, WA 98194.

Mariners Education Day
The Mariners held their 15th Annual Mariners Education Day on May 8, 2012. Mariners players, coaches and broadcasters traveled to six local elementary schools to deliver the D.R.E.A.M. Team message - stressing the importance of education and positive thinking.

Refuse To Abuse Campaign
During the 2012 season, Mariners Care partnered with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to support the "Refuse To Abuse" campaign, which seeks to raise awareness and support victims of domestic violence.

Jackie Robinson Scholarship Night
This scholarship is a partnership between the Seattle Mariners, the Evergreen State College and Seattle Central Community College. It is awarded to three full-time students who transfer from Seattle Central Community College to Evergreen and recognizes students who have demonstrated the ideals of Jackie Robinson through all of his athletic endeavors, and have distinguished themselves through their academic achievement and outstanding commitment to community involvement and social justice.


Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities League (RBI)
The Mariners, once again, have joined together with Major League Baseball and the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County in 2013 to support the 20th season of the Seattle R.B.I. League. R.B.I. offers inner-city boys and girls, ages 5-18, the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of baseball and softball by providing them with a safe, organized athletic program. Baseball Tomorrow Fund Equipment Drive
On July 27, 2013, Mariners fans are encouraged to bring new and/or gently used baseball and softball equipment to Safeco Field to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County who administer our Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities League.

Pitch, Hit and Run
Pitch, Hit and Run is Major League Baseball's national skills program for boys baseball and girls softball, ages 7-14, that gives kids the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and base running abilities. Youngsters may advance through four levels of competition, beginning each year with local competitions in April and May and concluding with the national Finals in July at the MLB All-Star Game. All-Star Legacy Field
The City of Seattle's only baseball-only field and four nearby softball fields have undergone major capital renovations as a result of the 72nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department was awarded the 2001 Major League Baseball All-Star Legacy grant of $1 million. The grant, funded by a portion of the proceeds from the Claritin All-Star Workout Day and a generous donation from Major League Baseball Charities, was used for extensive improvements at the Lower Woodland Park Playfields, among the most heavily used fields by Seattle youth.

Baseball Tomorrow Fund Field Maintenance Clinic
On August 23 at Safeco Field, the Mariners Grounds Crew and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund teamed up to present a Field Maintenance Clinic for staff from Seattle Parks & Recreation, Metro Parks Tacoma, City of Lakewood, and Kennewick American Youth Baseball. Participants attending the event received tips from the pros on maintaining local athletic fields. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund also presented a $10,000 grant to Kennewick American Youth Baseball to help with renovation of their baseball field.

Mariners Get Well Tour Presented By Holland America Line
Get Well Tour The Mariners and Holland America Line will team up in 2013 to bring the Mariners Get Well Tour to hospitals in the Northwest. Mariners players and the Mariner Moose will visit kids and Veterans at local children's and Veteran's hospitals.


The Fred Hutch Award Luncheon

The 2012 Hutch Award Luncheon raised over $400,000 to benefit The Gregory Fund for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's early cancer detection research. For more information or to register for the event please call (206) 667-2980.


PLAY Campaign
PLAY Campaign In 2012, the Mariners hosted the fifth annual PLAY Campaign event at Safeco Field for kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs. PLAY - which stands for Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth - is a public awareness campaign developed by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) to combat child obesity. Mariners Athletic Trainers Rick Griffin and Rob Nodine joined Mariners players to encourage youth to be active, eat right, and sustain a healthy lifestyle.

Seattle Children's Hospital Wishing Well
Wishing Well Every fan donation to the Wishing Well at Safeco Field during the 2012 season will benefit Pacific Northwest patients and families at Seattle Children's Hospital.

Cystic Fibrosis Mariners Care Golf Tournament
On June 24, 2013, the Seattle Mariners will host the 28th annual Cystic Fibrosis Mariners Care Golf Tournament at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. The event, held annually since 1986, has raised over $4.87 million to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis, a fatal disease afflicting children and young adults.

News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM and Northwest Harvest
The Seattle Mariners and News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM are proud sponsors of Fight Hunger Night on June 8, 2013. Prior to the game, fans are asked to donate non-perishable food items to benefit Northwest Harvest. Last season, 550lbs of food along with $5000 was collected. This helped feed 22,500 individuals.


Alaska Airlines Home Runs for Wishes
Alaska Airlines Home Runs for Wishes Alaska Airlines will donate 10,000 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington for every Mariners home run and 50,000 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles for every grand slam hit by a Mariners player during the 2013 season. 1,550,000 miles were donated for 2012.

Sharebuilder Saves for Kids
Saves for Kids

For every save recorded by a Mariners pitcher during the 2013 season, Sharebuilder will donate $1,000 to Seattle Children's Uncompensated Care.

"Seattle Children's is honored to benefit from the Saves for Kids program. The hospital is grateful to Sharebuilder and the Seattle Mariners for partnering on this game winning program which will directly help the patients and families we serve, regardless of their ability to pay," said Michele Smith, member - Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation.


PACCAR RBI for Literacy
For every Mariners run batted in, PACCAR will make a donation to Page Ahead. Page Ahead's mission is to provide new books and develop reading activities that empower at-risk children. In 2012, PACCA donate $75,000 to Page Ahead.

Trader Joe's Home Run Program
Trader Joe's will make a donation to the Emergency Feeding Program of King County in 2013 for each home run hit over 350 ft. by a Mariners player at Safeco Field. Trader Joe's donated $15,000 to the Emergency Feeding Program of King County in 2012.


Mariners Care Silent Auctions
Since 2000, the Mariners have hosted Silent Auctions at each Saturday home game to benefit Mariners Care. Fans have the opportunity to bid on select memorabilia including autographed baseballs, game-used bats, autographed jerseys worn in the Mariners TV commercials, and several other unique items. The Silent Auctions, held at Section 128 at Safeco Field, begin when the gates open and conclude at the end of the sixth inning. In 2012, the Mariners Care Silent Auctions raised $82,646, raising the twelve-year total to $1.2 million.


Mariners Care Speed Pitch
Mariner fans have the opportunity to test their arms against the Major Leaguers with an official radar gun at the Mariners Care Speed Pitch machine located near the Centerfield entrance. Proceeds from the Mariners Care Speed Pitch machine benefit Mariners Care.

Mariner Wives "My Favorite Things" Basket Auction:
On August 23, the Mariners Wives will showcase and auction off their husband's "Favorite Things" to benefit Mariners Care. Baskets include autographed items, game used items and player's favorite books, CDs, DVDs, and much more.

Mariners Wives Grab Bags
On June 28 the Wives of Mariners players, along with volunteers from Mariners Care, will sell mystery "grab-bags" containing a baseball signed by one of the 2013 Mariners, along with other Major League stars.

Mariners Care Donations
Mariners Care will reach thousands of organizations in the Pacific Northwest through donations of memorabilia and autographed items.

Donation requests for a charitable fundraiser can be made in writing to the Seattle Mariners, Attn: Charitable Donations, P.O. Box 4100, Seattle, WA 98194.

All donation requests must be submitted in writing, on organizational letterhead and postmarked 6 weeks prior to the event. We do not accept faxed or emailed requests. Letters must include the following information:
a. Date of your event
b. Federal Tax I.D. Number
c. A brief explanation of the event and how proceeds will be used
d. Contact name, phone number, complete mailing address and valid email address (Incomplete requests will not be considered)


Refuse To Abuse 5K Run/Walk at Safeco Field
Refuse to Abuse 5K Run/Walk at Safeco Field Register today for the Refuse To AbuseĀ® 5K at Safeco Field on Saturday, July 20, 2013. This unique 5K is a fundraising run/walk around every level of Safeco Field, from the top to the tunnel to the final lap around the field. This event builds on the long-standing partnership between the Seattle Mariners and the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to promote healthy, respectful relationships through the Refuse To AbuseĀ® violence prevention campaign. Commissioner's Community Initiative/MLB & Players Give Back Tickets
Through Mariners Care, Major League Baseball, and the MLB Players Association the Commissioner's Community Initiative and MLB & Players Give Back programs provide the opportunity for thousands of children and seniors to attend Seattle Mariners home games through ticket donations to non-profit organizations. If you would like to bring your non-profit organization to attend a game at Safeco Field, please submit a formal letter of request on letterhead that includes the approximate size of the group and, if needed, the number of ADA accessible seats required for your group along with your contact information. Seattle Mariners Caravan
The 2013 Seattle Mariners Caravan successfully hit the road Jan. 9-25, visiting communities across the Pacific Northwest to increase excitement for the upcoming season. On the tour, select members of the Seattle Mariners visited elementary schools and Boys & Girls Clubs to deliver the D.R.E.A.M Team message and hosted complimentary autograph and photo sessions for the public. Mariners FanFest
On Jan. 26 and27 the Mariners welcomed fans from all over the Northwest to Safeco Field for their first glimpse of the 2013 Seattle Mariners team at the 14th annual Mariners FanFest. Fans had the chance to get autographs and interact with players and coaches, new and old, and get autographs from Jesus Montero, Brendan Ryan, Franklin Gutierrez, and Manager Eric Wedge, as well as many other players and coaches. There were tons of great interactive games for kids and adults, and a Garage Sale of Mariners memorabilia where proceeds supported Mariners Care. FanFest Information »
