The entire Seattle Mariners organization takes the role of community leadership very seriously. The ballclub is in a unique position to connect the team with worthwhile endeavors, community partners and fundraising activities that make significant contributions to the Pacific Northwest. It is the goal and responsibility of the organization to be a community leader. During the 2011 Mariners season, Mariners Care, the team's non-profit foundation, helped raise over one million dollars for various charities and community projects.

The Mariner Moose D.R.E.A.M.Team School Assembly Program continues to visit elementary schools in the Pacific Northwest throughout the 2010-2011 school year. The program uses the Mariner Moose to deliver the importance of the D.R.E.A.M. Team principles: staying Drug-free, Respect for yourself and others, Education through reading, Attitude, and Motivation. To find out how you can bring the Moose and his D.R.E.A.M. Mariners Education Day |

The Mariners held their 14th Annual Mariners Education Day on May 5th. Mariners players, coaches and broadcasters traveled to six local elementary schools to deliver the D.R.E.A.M. Team message - stressing the importance of education and positive thinking. |

Refuse to Abuse Campaign |

During the 2011 season, Mariners Care and Verizon Wireless teamed up with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to support the "Refuse to Abuse" campaign, which seeks to raise awareness and support victims of domestic violence. |

Jackie Robinson Scholarship Night |

 |
This scholarship is a partnership between the Seattle Mariners, the Evergreen State College and Seattle Central Community College. It is awarded to three full-time students who transfer from Seattle Central Community College to Evergreen and recognizes students who have demonstrated the ideals of Jackie Robinson through all of his athletic endeavors, and have distinguished themselves through their academic achievement and outstanding commitment to community involvement and social justice. |

The Mariners once again joined together with Major League Baseball and the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County in 2011 to support the 18th season of the Seattle R.B.I. League. R.B.I. offers inner-city boys and girls, ages 5-18, the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of baseball and softball by providing them with a safe, organized athletic program. On June 25, 2011 Mariners fans and The Baseball Tomorrow Fund teamed up to collect new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County who administer our Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities League. Fans that donated, received an autographed photo from Seattle Mariners pitcher David Aardsma. |

Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run |

Pitch, Hit and Run is Major League Baseball's national skills program for boys baseball and girls softball, ages 7-14, that gives kids the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and base running abilities. Youngsters may advance through four levels of competition, beginning each year with local competitions in April and May and concluding with the national Finals in July at the MLB All-Star Game. All-Star Legacy Field |

The City of Seattle's only baseball-only field and four nearby softball fields have undergone major capital renovations as a result of the 72nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department was awarded the 2001 Major League Baseball All-Star Legacy grant of $1 million. The grant, funded by a portion of the proceeds from the Claritin All-Star Workout Day and a generous donation from Major League Baseball Charities, was used for extensive improvements at the Lower Woodland Park Playfields, among the most heavily used fields by Seattle youth. |

Mariners Get Well Tour Presented By Holland America Line |

The Mariners and Holland America Line teamed up in 2011 to bring the Mariners Get Well Tour to hospitals in the Northwest. Mariners players including Felix Hernandez, Franklin Gutierrez, Dustin Ackley, Josh Bard, Mike Carp, Jamey Wright, and Alex Liddi joined the Mariner Moose to visit kids and Veterans at local children's and veteran's hospitals. |

Mariner fans have the opportunity to test their arms against the Major Leaguers with an official radar gun at the Mariners Care Speed Pitch machine located near the Centerfield entrance. Proceeds from the Mariners Care Speed Pitch machine benefit Mariners Care. |

Mariners Care Silent Auctions |

Since 2000, the Mariners have hosted Silent Auctions at each Saturday home game to benefit Mariners Care. Fans have the opportunity to bid on select memorabilia including autographed baseballs, game-used bats, autographed jerseys worn in the Mariners TV commercials, and several other unique items. The Silent Auctions, held at Section 128 at Safeco Field, begin when the gates open and conclude at the end of the sixth inning. In 2011, the Mariners Care Silent Auctions raised over $90,000, raising the twelve-year total to over $1 million.

Mariner Wives "My Favorite Things" Basket Auction: |

On August 12, the Mariners Wives showcased and auctioned off baskets containing their husband's "Favorite Things." $14,000 was raised, which will benefit Mariners Care. Baskets included autographed items, game used items, player's favorite books, CDs, DVDs and much more. |

Mariners Wives Grab Bags |

The annual Grab-Bag fundraiser, benefiting Mariners Care, was held on June 17. The Wives of Mariners players, along with volunteers from Mariners Care, sold mystery "grab-bags" containing a baseball signed by one of the 2011 Mariners. Over $23,000 was raised for Mariners Care. |

PLAY Campaign |

On August 2, 2011, the Mariners hosted the second annual PLAY Campaign event at Safeco Field for kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs. PLAY - which stands for Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth - is a public awareness campaign developed by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) to combat child obesity. Mariners Athletic Trainers Rick Griffin and Rob Nodine teamed up with Mariners outfielder Ryan Langerhans and pitcher Chris Seddon to encourage youth to be active, eat right, and sustain a healthy lifestyle. |

Cystic Fibrosis Mariners Care Golf Tournament |

On June 30, 2011 the Seattle Mariners hosted the 26th annual Cystic Fibrosis Mariners Care Golf Tournament at the Golf Club at Newcastle. The event, held annually since 1986, has raised over $4.57 million to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis, a fatal disease afflicting children and young adults. News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM and Northwest Harvest |

The Seattle Mariners and News Talk 97.3 KIRO FM were proud sponsors of Fight Hunger Night on May 28, 2011. Prior to the game, fans were asked to donate non-perishable food items that were collected at all gates to benefit Northwest Harvest. Mariners fans donated over 800 pounds of food and approximately $7,000 in cash donations, helping to feed over 34,000 individuals. |

Alaska Airlines Home Runs for Wishes |

Alaska Airlines donated 10,000 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington for every Mariners home run and 40,000 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles for every grand slam hit by a Mariners player during the 2011 season. 1,180,000 miles were donated for 2011. |

Defense Against Diabetes Double Plays |

For every double play turned during the 2011 season at Safeco Field, the Mariners on behalf of Novo Nordisk donated $100 to be split equally between JDRF and ADA. In 2011, $7,400 was donated. |

ING DIRECT Saves for Kids |

For every save recorded by a Mariners pitcher during the 2011 season, ING DIRECT donated $1,000 to Seattle Children's. $39,000 was donated for 2011.
"Seattle Children's is honored to benefit from the Saves for Kids program. The hospital is grateful to ING DIRECT and the Seattle Mariners for partnering on this game winning program which will directly help the patients and families we serve, regardless of their ability to pay," said Michele Smith, member - Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation. |

Verizon Wireless' HopeLine Program |

Through the HopeLine program, used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any service provider can be recycled or refurbished and sold. Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds toward grants to domestic-violence agencies in Washington state. Verizon Wireless distributes wireless phones with prepaid airtime to nonprofit human-services and law-enforcement agencies for use by domestic-violence victims. On August 12,2011, fans were encouraged to donate used wireless phones and accessories to the Verizon Wireless' HopeLine phone-recycling program. Phones and accessories for Verizon Wireless' HopeLine phone-recycling program will be accepted year-round at Verizon Wireless Communications stores. Over 1,000 phones were collected at Safeco Field during the 2011 season. |

For every Mariners team win recorded in 2011, the Mariners, on behalf of Verizon Wireless, donated $200 to the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The Mariners won 67 games in 2011, for a donation of $13,400. |

Trader Joe's Home Run Program |

Trader Joe's made a donation to the Emergency Feeding Program of King County in 2011 for each home run hit over 350 ft. by a Mariners player at Safeco Field. Trader Joe's donated $7,500 to the Emergency Feeding Program of King County in 2011. |

Mariners Care will reach thousands of organizations in the Pacific Northwest through donations of memorabilia and autographed items. Commissioner's Community Initiative Tickets |

Through Mariners Care and Major League Baseball, the Commissioner's Community Initiative provided the opportunity for thousands of children and seniors to attend Seattle Mariners home games through ticket donations to non-profit organizations. If you would like to bring your non-profit organization to attend a game at Safeco Field, please submit a formal letter of request on letterhead that includes the approximate size of the group and, if needed, the number of ADA accessible seats required for your group along with your contact information. Seattle Mariners Caravan |

The 2011 Seattle Mariners Caravan successfully hit the road Jan. 10-28, visiting communities across the Pacific Northwest to increase excitement for the upcoming season. On the tour, select members of the Seattle Mariners visited elementary schools and Boys & Girls Clubs to deliver the D.R.E.A.M Team message and hosted complimentary autograph and photo sessions for the public. On Jan. 29 and 30, the Mariners welcomed fans from all over the Northwest to Safeco Field for their first glimpse of the 2011 Seattle Mariners team at the 12th Annual Mariners FanFest. Fans had the chance to get autographs and interact with players and coaches, new and old, and get autographs from Chone Figgins, Felix Hernandez, Miguel Olivo, and Manager Eric Wedge, as well as many other players and coaches.
