What is the Mariners Cup?
- The Mariners Cup is an exciting baseball tournament, where a select group of high school baseball players from the Northwest will compete at a high level of competition against the San Francisco Giants and Mariners USA Scout Teams.
- All teams will wear their Major League Baseball team uniform and be coached by members of their respected scouting department.
- The Mariners Cup is a three-game series held August 17-19, 2009. Games on August 17th will be played at Everett Memorial Stadium, home of the Everett Aqua Sox, the Seattle Mariners short season club. Games on August 18th-19th will be played at Safeco Field. Tickets to the series will be available for purchase at the games.
- Playing at Safeco Field and wearing big league uniforms will be a chance of a lifetime for these top high school baseball prospects.
Who Can Play In The Mariners Cup?
- You must be a high school student who will graduate in either 2010 or 2011.
- Everyone must attend a tryout. Tryouts will be held in various locations throughout the Northwest in June 2009. We will update this information once we have the specific tryout dates.
How Is The Mariners Cup Team Chosen?
- Mariners personnel will choose the team and conduct the tryouts
Why Should You Tryout For The Mariners Cup Team?
- 94 high school players who played for the Northwest Mariners scout team have been drafted over the past nine years.
- Professional scouts and college recruiters will all attend the Mariners Cup.

The Seattle Mariners will hold tryout camps June 15, 16 and 17, 2009. The purpose of these camps is to acquire free-agent players for the upcoming minor league short season as well to identify players and compile roster information for its 4th Annual Mariners Cup team who competes at Safeco Field, August 17th-19th. This team represents outstanding high school underclassmen (2010, 2011 graduates) from the Northwest. The Seattle Mariners Scouting Staff will select 25 members for the 2009 Mariners Cup Team.
- Players from ages 16-22 (no exceptions) are invited to attend.
- There is no charge to attend the tryout camps. Attend one camp only.
- Please bring a copy of your summer team schedule.
- The Mariners will supply bats and baseballs. You supply all baseball gear.
- Players will register upon arrival.
- The camps will proceed rain or shine.
The camps will be held at the following locations - please arrive 1/2 hour early:
Monday, June 15, 2009 at 4:00 PM: Everett Memorial Stadium, Everett, WA
Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 4:00PM: Cheney Stadium, Tacoma, WA
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 4:00 PM: Mt. Hood Community College, Gresham, OR
There will also be Mariners Cup Team Selection personnel at this Major League Scouting Bureau Tryout:
Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 9:00 AM: La Pierre Field, Kennewick, WA
