Mariners Hall of Fame

Mariners Hall of Fame

Seattle Mariners former chairman and CEO John Ellis announced on June 14, 1997 the creation of a Mariners Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors the players, staff and other individuals that greatly contributed to the history and success of the Mariners franchise.

"It is important to recognize and honor the great players and people who have made a positive contribution to Mariners baseball and the game of baseball in the Pacific Northwest," Ellis said. "A Mariners Hall of Fame will be that place of honor. It will also be a place that families can visit and learn about the heritage of Major League Baseball here in the Northwest."

Seattle Mariners All-Star first baseman and Mr. Baseball in the Pacific Northwest, Alvin Davis, was Seattle's first inductee into the Hall, as announced on June 14, 1997. Dave Niehaus, the "Voice of the Mariners" since the team's initial voyage in 1977, was inducted on May 7, 2000. Jay Buhner, "Bone" to thousands of adoring fans, was the third member. The powerful rightfielder was inducted on Aug. 24, 2004. The greatest right-handed hitter of his era, Edgar Martinez, became the fourth member of the Hall on June 2, 2007. The Pacific Northwest Baseball Museum and Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame opened its doors on during the 2007 season. Both are located on the Main Concourse in Safeco Field along the third base line. They are free, and open to all fans during every Mariners home game. Artifacts, photos and interactive exhibits invite fans into the region's baseball history documenting amateur, minor league and Major League Baseball.
