MARINERS HALL OF FAME

Seattle Mariners former chairman and CEO John Ellis announced on June 14, 1997 the creation of a Mariners Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will honor the players, staff and other individuals that greatly contributed to the history and success of the Mariners franchise.

"It is important to recognize and honor the great players and people who have made a positive contribution to Mariners baseball and the game of baseball in the Pacific Northwest," Ellis said. "A Mariners Hall of Fame will be that place of honor. It will also be a place that families can visit and learn about the heritage of Major League Baseball here in the Northwest."

Seattle Mariners all-star first baseman and Mr. Baseball in the Pacific Northwest, Alvin Davis, was Seattle's first inductee into the Hall, as announced on June 14, 1997. More recently, Seattle's "Voice of the Mariners" since the team's initial voyage in 1977, Dave Niehaus was inducted on May 7, 2000.

At Safeco Field, the Hall of Fame will be permanently displayed in a museum that will be open to the public in the near future.
