Safeco Field Never Sleeps
Paul McCartney
Even while the team is away, Safeco Field is a busy place. On July 19, the ballpark will host its first major concert when Sir Paul McCartney brings his Out There tour to Seattle. A crew of 250 workers will take three days to transform the ballpark. The grass will be covered with a protective surface for 8,500 reserved seats on the field. A huge stage and two giant LED video screens, along with over 70,000 watts of state-of-the-art audio equipment, will be set up in the outfield. A limited number of premium tickets are available in the All-Star Club, Press Box Club and 20-person private suites. Call 206-346-4001 for details.

Second Annual Refuse to Abuse® 5K
The next night, on Saturday, July 20, the ballpark will host the Second Annual Refuse to Abuse® 5K to benefit the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Runners and walkers will make their way through every level of the ballpark for the 5K route. The $50 registration fee and pledges will benefit domestic violence prevention programs across the state. Last year's event generated over $18,000 for the Coalition.

Inside the Clubhouse Video Feature
Every pitch that is thrown by or against a Major League team adds up to 50,000-60,000 pitches over the course of the season. And if a Mariners coach, pitcher or hitter is looking for a frame-by-frame breakdown of any one of those pitches, they go to Jimmy Hartley, Seattle Mariners Video Coordinator. In this exclusive video, we give you a glimpse into the important -although relatively unknown-work that Jimmy and his fellow video coordinators do each day.
